BUILDING STORIES

A community collection of stories about place & design.

Every building has a story. Building Stories is a BAF multimedia project sharing personal experiences of architecture, construction, and place across Western New York.

We invite you to share your story, through writing, artwork, photography, audio, or any creative medium. In partnership with the University at Buffalo Libraries, these stories are preserved and accessible through the UBdigit digital collection, supporting BAF’s mission to inspire exploration and appreciation of the built environment.

6 Minute Building Stories

6 Minute Building Stories, or 6Mbs, is part of a larger Building Stories dialogue. 6Mbs is an informal and fun gathering featuring presentations by esteemed speakers from diverse cultural disciplines in unique locations throughout Buffalo, NY. Speakers present their building story through 18 images. The total time allotted for each slide is 20 seconds and, as the slide changes after 20 seconds, so does the related verbal content.

We promote a broad and inclusive view of who shapes the built environment by featuring speakers from architecture, construction and engineering backgrounds as well as real estate developers, artists, community organizers, tradespeople and allied professionals. Presentations are recorded and added to our Building Stories Archive at the University at Buffalo.

The Building Stories digital collection supports BAFs mission of inspiring the exploration and appreciation of architecture and how it shapes our lives by reaching out to a wider audience and preserving your stories.
